THINGS TO DO: Agriculture and arts

AGSTRAVAGANZA will be held Thursday through Saturday at Otto-Eldred High School, 143 R.L. Sweitzer Drive in Duke Center, featuring a series of events highlighting student agricultural programs and projects through the school’s Future Farmers of America chapter. The week begins Thursday with a Supervised Agriculture Experience (SAE) project marketplace at 4:30 p.m., followed by an FFA award ceremony at 5:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

FFA GREENHOUSE SALE is scheduled for 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Otto-Eldred High School, offering plants and agriculture-based products grown and created by FFA students. All sales directly benefit the agriculture program. Visitors can explore displays, purchase items such as cutting boards and candles, and learn more about the program during the open house. The Rustic Duck, a student-run agribusiness, will also offer products for sale.

CRUISE-IN will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at St. Marys High School, 997 S. St. Marys Road. This event is presented by St. Marys Area Future Farmers of America (FFA) and Elk County Cruisers. Participants are encouraged to bring their daily driver and join in the fun. Refreshments are available for purchase. All proceeds benefit the St. Marys FFA program.

ST. LEO SCHOOL FISHING DERBY will take place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Ridgway Firemen’s Grounds, 138 N. Broad St. in Ridgway. The 22nd annual event will feature a tagged fish contest with a top prize of $1,500, along with a kids derby, food, games, raffles and live music. Camping will also be available on-site, and participants can register and pick up badges beginning at 2 p.m. Friday at the grounds or during the derby.

UNITED WE SHINE: AN AMERICAN ARTS CELEBRATION will be presented at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bromeley Family Theater at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. The SPARK Arts showcase will feature approximately 25 participants in a celebration of inclusion and artistic expression, with performances including singing, piano, drumming, acting and dancing, along with art displays and activities. Admission is $5 for adults, with free entry for youth. Proceeds will benefit SPARK Arts, an initiative of the Bradford Creative and Performing Arts Center (BCPAC).

AMERICA AT 250 WITH ULYSSES S. GRANT will be staged at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Hamlin Memorial Library, 123 S. Mechanic St. in Smethport. Living historian Ken Serfass will portray Ulysses S. Grant, reflecting on 250 years of American history from the perspective of the former president. The program is open to all ages, with snacks and refreshments provided.
