Thomas Rose
Thomas C. Rose, 80, of Bradford passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at UPMC Hamot, Erie.
He was born April 3, 1945, in Bradford, a son of the late John “Jack” and Agnes Kearns Rose.
He was a 1965 graduate of Smethport Area High School.
On Dec. 14, 1968, at Evans Memorial Methodist Church, Lewis Run, he married Sheila J. Newton, who preceded him in death on Feb. 25, 2013.
He was a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War from 1965 until his honorable discharge in 1967.
He volunteered with the Derrick City Volunteer Fire Department and the former Bradford Special Police / CSI. He was also a member of the former Jack & Jill Square Dance Club.
He was employed by the Bradford Sanitary Authority from 1986 until his retirement in 2007. Prior to working for the Sanitary Authority he worked for W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery for 13 years and in retirement he worked as a carrier for The Bradford Era.
He is survived by two sons, Donald (Martha) Rose and John (Christine) Rose, all of Bradford; one daughter, Amanda Rose of Bradford; three grandchildren, Katherine Rose, Zackary Workman and Abagayle Workman; two step-grandsons, Nathaniel Kline and Allen Kline; one step-great-grandson, Dean Kline; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Elaine Stewart Rose; and several siblings and step-siblings.
A memorial service will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday (April 25, 2026) at Emanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. John Kearns officiating.
Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park, Lafayette.
