KANE — Kathleen Lou “Kittie” McCormack, 79, of Mount Jewett passed away Sunday (April 12, 2026) at The Lutheran Home at Kane.

She was born Aug. 1, 1946, in Kane, the daughter of the late Richard and Gladys “Rusty” Moran Johnston. She married James McCormack on Aug. 12, 1972, and had two children.

She is survived by her husband; son Jay (Marcie Srun) McCormack of Terre Haute, Ind.; and five grandchildren, Ren, Jayne, Sunny, Claire and Kacey McCormack.

She was preceded in death by her son Christopher McCormack.

Kittie worked in medical records at Kane Community Hospital and as a secretary and shipping clerk for Keystone Thermometrics and GE in both Mount Jewett and St. Marys. She was a member of the Legion Auxiliary in Mount Jewett and Light on the Hill Community Methodist Church in Mount. Jewett. She volunteered at the Mount Jewett Memorial Library, and enjoyed reading and walking as well as spending time with her dogs, kids and grandkids.

Friends are invited to attend a viewing from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday (April 17, 2026) at Cummings Funeral Home. Following a private burial in Bridgeview Cemetery, a memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday (April 18, 2026) at Kane Community Methodist Church with the Rev. Calvin Cook officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to the Mount Jewett Memorial Library.
