Genevieve Silvis
Genevieve May Silvis, 97, of Coryville passed away Friday (Feb. 27, 2026) at Bradford Ecumenical Home.
She was born March 31, 1928, in Carrollton, N.Y., a daughter of the late Charles and Margaret Mosher Mattocks.
She attended Olean, N.Y., schools.
On Jan. 22, 1949, in Olean, she married Clifford T. Silvis, who preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 2011.
She was a member of Coryville Church of Faith and she was a volunteer with the Eldred World War II Museum for many years. When she was younger, she sold Avon, bowled at the former Smethport Bowling Lanes and volunteered for the former Home Extension. She enjoyed going for walks and working in her flower bed and she loved visiting with people.
She is survived by three sons, Thomas Clifford Silvis of Coryville, Ray Edgar (Amy Spitler) Silvis of Derrick City and Danny Michael Silvis of Johnstown; two daughters, Sandra Kay (Carl) Rodgers of Rixford and Mary Margaret (Michael) DuBois of Bradford; eight grandchildren, Carl (Lisa) Rodgers, Christopher (Jennifer) Rodgers, Kimberly (Nick) May, Ann Steel, Scott (Heather) Silvis, Karen (Anthony) Bogner, Andrew Silvis and Sean Silvis; and one granddaughter-in-law, Min-hui DuBois; as well as many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Jeremy DuBois, in 2009; one great-grandson, Jace Silvis, in 2019; one brother, Edward Mattocks; and four sisters, Marie Reed, Viown Work, Lucille Beatty and Diane Tuttle.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday (March 5, 2026) at Mascho Funeral Home Inc., where funeral services will immediately follow with the Rev. Beth Rosler, pastor of Duke Center United Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in the Moody Hollow Cemetery, Coryville.
