‘Round the Square: Would you believe robins are back?
ROBINS/GLASS: Believe it or not, Tim Cobb of Willow Creek called Wednesday morning to tell us he has about 30 robins in his yard. He said he snow blows an area of his yard, so warmer temperatures and sunshine had that down to the bare grass in no time.
We can’t recall another winter when his phone call has been quite so welcome!

The Corning Museum of Glass (CMoG) is set for a momentous year in 2026, celebrating its 75th Anniversary with a slate of ambitious programming, including the major exhibition Tough Stuff: Women in the American Glass Studio.
CMoG will kick off its anniversary with its local community in Corning on Feb. 20. This will also be the first official opportunity for museum members and residents to meet Dr. Jessica Levin Martinez, whose official tenure as the Museum’s President and Executive Director began Feb. 2.
The celebration, CMoG75, will feature hot glass demonstrations by the Museum’s Hot Glass Team, and live music by Vancouver, Canada-based band The Town Pants. The event will be the culmination of the Museum’s annual family-focused Winter Break events which feature interactive activities for all ages.
Tough Stuff: Women in the American Glass Studio will open May 16. The show is the first-ever survey exhibition of work by women artists working in glass in the United States during the 1960s and 1970s, the breakthrough decades of the American Studio Glass Movement.
The Museum will also present HOTSPOT: CMoG at 75, a comprehensive exhibition exploring CMoG’s history and the profound impact the institution has had on artistic innovation, appreciation, preservation, and interpretation of glass over 75 years. The exhibition opens Aug. 29. Adding to the Museum’s celebration is a new Guide to the Corning Museum of Glass. Richly illustrated in color, the glossy paperback will be available through the CMoG Shops starting in May 2026.
In March, the Museum will install “Glass in the Haudenosaunee Confederacy” in its 35 Centuries of Glass galleries, featuring objects on long-term loan from the Onöhsagwë:de’ Cultural Center of the Seneca Nation of Indians.
