Irene was a graduate of Wilcox High School, class of 1948. She was a lifelong, faithful member of Sacred Heart Church. She was a dedicated employee at the A & P for many years, a job she greatly enjoyed, and which gave her the opportunity to meet and make many friends. An avid cinch player, Irene loved to play cards and always enjoyed a trip to the casino to try her luck. She also loved spending time with her family at their family reunions, as well as going camping. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her great joy and were the light and love of her life.
She is survived by three children, Cindy (John) Doran of Weedville, Michael (Wendy) Micale of St. Marys and David (Sally) Micale of St. Marys; seven beloved grandchildren, Josh (Chelsea Ashley) Doran, Krista (Zach) Horne, Lacy (Tim) Stynchula, Chelsea (Ryan Uber) Micale, Brent (Ashley Christine) Shaffer, Matt Micale and Lindsay (Hayden) Gahr; seven great-grandchildren, Alli, Taylor, Sammi, Charlea, Chance, Jaxon and Chase; and one brother, William “Bill” Zuraski of Johnsonburg; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence “Buzzy” Zuraski and Robert Zuraski; and by five sisters, Anastasia Parnell, Loretta Gerber, Marcella Fledderman, Elizabeth “Honey” Nelson and Patricia Levenduski.
