Bradford’s Sean Storer and Kael Riekofsky were recognized during Saturday’s District IX Central League Championships. Storer was named Boys’ MVP, while Riekofsky earned an All-Star title for tying for third place in points.

 

ST. MARYS – Bradford Area High School Swim Team traveled to St. Marys Saturday to compete in the District IX Central League Championship Meet with St. Mary’s Area High School, Dubois Area High School, and Punxsutawney Area High School.

The swimmers from BAHS had a great meet with many strong swims. Overall, the BAHS Boys’ Team placed second and the BAHS Girls’ Team placed fourth. Throughout the meet, the Owls had several top three finishes, earning them a spot on the podium and a medal! At the conclusion of the meet, the top scorers from both boys’ and girls’ teams were named as All Stars and an MVP from each male/female team was named.

Freshman Kael Riekofsky tied for scoring the third highest points (29) of all the boys at the meet, earning him an All-Star title. He was on two of the boys’ relays that placed 1st. Individually, he placed 2nd in the 200IM with a time of 2:18.98 and 1st in the 100yd Backstroke with a time of 1:02.96.

Senior Sean Storer was named the Boys’ MVP of the meet for scoring the most points – 32! He was also on the two 1st place relays. Individually, Storer placed 1st in the 50yd Freestyle with a time of 23.27, and he placed 1st in the 100yd Butterfly with a time of 57.48.

“Congratulations to both Sean and Kael, as well as the rest of the BAHS Swim Team for a great meet!” Bradford Coach Erika Close said.

The next stop for the BAHS Swim Team is the District IX Championships in Clearfield on Feb. 27-28.
