Mary Costello

Mary L. Costello, 90, formerly of 15 Birch St., passed away Jan. 26, 2026, at Bradford Ecumenical Home, where she had been a resident since October.

Born Mary Lucille Zamberlan, she was the daughter of Joseph and Katherine Pietranton Zamberlan of Lewis Run. On March 2, 1957, she married Michael E. Costello, who predeceased her on July 3, 1972.

Mary was a 1953 graduate of Bradford Area High School and a 1956 graduate of the Bradford Hospital School of Nursing. She spent her nursing career working for Bradford Hospital, Easter Seals and finally the Bradford Nursing Pavilion. In her retirement, she enjoyed crocheting, reading, puzzles and spending time with family. Mary was a generous, loving person with a wonderful sense of humor who will be deeply missed.

She is survived by six children, Terry (Cindy) Costello of Hamburg, N.Y., Michele Kelly of Bradford, Robert (Terri) Costello of Bradford, Kelly Costello of Bradford, Kathryn Smith of Wenonah, N.J., and Julie Costello of Atlanta; nine grandchildren, Shannon (Michael) Magnetti, Jesse Kelly, Matthew (Claire) Costello, Brandon (Lauren) Costello, Nicholas (Ashley) Costello, Tyler Costello, Collin (Morgan) Costello, Eric Smith, Kaitlyn Smith and Bryce Smith; 10 great-grandchildren, Anita, Nicholas, Conner, Camden, Chloe, Juniper, Lylah, Caiden, Max and Noah; and one brother, Robert Zamberlan of Glen Burnie, Md.; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her husband, parents and three brothers, she was also predeceased by a son, Douglas; and a daughter, Ellen.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 14, 2026) at Mascho Funeral Home Inc., where a memorial service will immediately follow with the Rev. John Jacquel, pastor of St. Bernard Catholic Church, officiating.

Private burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.
