Linea Taylor

CERES — Linea M. Taylor, 81, of Ceres passed away unexpectedly Tuesday (Feb. 3, 2026) at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, N.Y.

Born Tuesday, Sept. 12, 1944, in Olean, N.Y., she was a daughter of Harold A. “Ole” and Helen D. Cornelius Olson. On April 6, 1963, in Obi, N.Y., she married Garry D. Taylor, who survives. Linea was a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School in Shinglehouse. Linea was formerly employed at the former Jack and Mary’s Restaurant in Rushford, N.Y. Previously she was employed at a knitting mill in Fillmore, N.Y. She was a life member of First Baptist Church in Shinglehouse.

Linea was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother — taking care of her family was one of her greatest joys. She loved to cook and bake. She found joy in painting later in life with friends in Shinglehouse. She loved knitting, crocheting, reading, Western square dancing and round dancing. Her greatest loves were her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the best friend anyone could ever want. Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 62 years, Garry, their four children, Lona G. (John) Cornell of Marion, N.Y., Garry Matthew Taylor of Freedom, N.Y., Adam Fay (Kerry) Taylor of Panama City, Fla., and Erika M. (John) Kelley of Turtlepoint; eight grandchildren, Ashley, Rachel, Jessica, Garret, Linea, Melissa, Nikki and Sheryl; four great-grandchildren, Gracie, Jacob, David and Waylon; a sister, Cherry (Mike) Feely of Little Genesee, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Linea was predeceased by two infant sons, Gerry A. and Damon L.; a grandson, Hunter; and a sister, Mary Wardlaw.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date on Linea’s Facebook page and the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home Facebook page and website.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Linea’s name may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 68, Shinglehouse, PA 16748; or to the Shinglehouse Volunteer Ambulance Association, P.O. Box 98, Shinglehouse.

Linea’s husband has entrusted her care and cremation arrangements to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
