John Vleminckx Sr.

John P. Vleminckx Sr., 92, of Bradford passed away Thursday (Dec. 4, 2025), surrounded by his family at The Pavilion at Bradford Regional Medical Center.

Born June 17, 1933, in Chicago, he was a son of the late Peter and Julia Kucewesky Vleminckx.

He was a 1951 graduate of Benton High School in Benton, Ill. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in Korea until his honorable discharge.

On July 15, 1952, in Pocahontas, Ariz., he married Wanda L. Overturf Vleminckx, who survives.

John worked with Haliburton from 1955 to 1981 and retired but returned to the workforce for EnviroGas from 1981 to 1990. He was a consultant for Superior Well Services from 1990 until 2019.

He was an active member of Bradford Church of Christ, where he was a deacon and church treasurer. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Oil and Gas Association and the Fireside Pumpers. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his woodshop, but most of all spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Wanda, of 73 years, are three daughters, Patricia Anne Vleminckx of Bradford, Cindy (Terry) Costello of Hamburg, N.Y., and Vanda Jordan of Houston; one son, John (Amy) Vleminckx Jr. of Bradford; one daughter-in-law, Ronetta Vleminckx of Kingsport, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren, Brian and Alicia Vleminckx, Kevin, Jonathan and Kyle Jordan, Matthew, Brandon and Nicholas Costello and Zachary and Mitchell Vleminck; 17 great-grandchildren, Brynna Vleminckx, Victoria, Ethan and Alec Jordan, Ellie and Rhys Jordan, Skylar, Karsyn, Camryn and Max Jordan, Conner, Camden and Chloe Costello, Max and Noah Costello and Livie Vleminckx; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Larry Vleminckx, who passed away May 5, 2023; one sister, Joanne Moore; and one brother, Dr. Eugene Fleming.

Family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday (Dec. 10, 2025) at Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., 33 South Ave., where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 11, 2025) with the Rev. Rick Price, pastor of Bradford Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.
