Peter McGarry
Peter F. McGarry, 81, of Emery Towers passed away Thursday, Nov. 20, 2025, at Bradford Regional Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 9, 1944, in Rahway, N.J., a son of the late Kenneth and Sarah McGarry.
Pete led more of a quieter life. As a very young man he was employed by the former Corning Glass Works and had previously worked in the plant. He had many, many friends who really loved and cared about him. He also had many nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces who, when talking about him, would always say “Uncle Pete” and everyone knew who that was. They would remember him on his birthdays and Christmas with gifts. Pete was such a grateful person, always with a “wow” or “thanks.” Many would comment on Pete being such a kind, sweet old man — and he was.
Pete was a small boy when the family moved to Bradford just before Christmas in 1951. He then spent his whole life here. For the past 12 years he also had a good friend by the name of Dennis. If anyone wanted to find him they could just call Dennis at his apartment. They would get together and watch TV. Pete’s favorite show was the “Twilight Zone.” Often you would see them walking together around Bradford also. Pete will be sadly missed by so many.
He is survived by one sister, Linda (George) Brown of Limestone, N.Y.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth McGarry, Patrick McGarry and the Rev. Michael McGarry; and one sister, Audrey Wilt.
At the family’s request there will be no services.
Private burial will take place in the spring at McKean Memorial Park, Lafayette, next to his parents.
Funeral arrangements were under direction of Mascho Funeral Home Inc.
