‘Round the Square: Two-wheeled treasure, stops and gems

MOTORCYCLES: There’s something special about riding on a motorcycle, and Cycle Trader magazine takes note of that on its blog with 2025 Top Fall Motorcycle Riding Destinations cycletrader.com/blog

Pennsylvania’s section of U.S. Route 6 and the Allegheny National Forest were second on the list.

“Route 6 through northern Pennsylvania feels tailor-made for autumn. The rolling hills and dense forest wrap around you in a kaleidoscope of color, and by mid-October the whole region is at its peak.”

There’s a section marked “stops and gems,” too. “Kinzua Sky Walk for sky-high views, historic Smethport, and the Eldred WWII Museum. The small-town diners and breweries along the route make for perfect pit stops.”

The blog noted potential dangers along the way. “Fallen leaves and pine needles can make curves slick. Cold morning shadows linger on pavement, and cell service fades in the deep woods, so be sure to plan ahead.”

Author Gillian Luce wrote, “There’s something undeniably special about hopping on your bike when the air turns crisp and the leaves start their fiery show. Fall gives riders the best of all worlds: cooler temps for longer days in the saddle, golden sunlight that makes every curve glow, and wide-open roads as summer traffic dies down,” she wrote. “Forests become technicolor tunnels, lakes turn into mirrors for fall foliage, and small-town diners feel extra cozy when you roll in for a hot cup of coffee. With all that magic, it’s no wonder autumn is a favorite season for two-wheeled wanderers.”

Number one is Eastern Tennessee, number three is the Classic Route 66 region of Illinois from Chicago to Granite City, four is Adirondacks in New York, five is Door County, Wisconsin, and six is Northern Michigan’s Tunnel of Trees.
