James A. Soyke, 89, of High Street passed away Wednesday (Sept. 24, 2025) at Bradford Manor.

Born Jan. 22, 1936, in Johnstown, he was a son of the late Alexander and Dorothy M. McQuay Soyke.

He was a 1954 graduate of Homestead High School.

Jim enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Aug. 26, 1954, and served on the USS Kearsarge and USS Oriskany until his honorable discharge on July 16, 1958.

On Nov. 14, 1964, at Rew EUB Church, he married Denise M. McCollough Soyke, who preceded him in death on Nov. 29, 2018.

Jim moved to Bradford in 1964 and worked as an auto body repairman for Elmer West of West Buick. He later was employed at American Olean Tile, Corning Glass and Dale Electronics, from which he retired.

Jim and his late wife, Denise, enjoyed their retirement home in Zephyrhills, Fla., where they spent their winter months.

Surviving are two sons, Bradley A. Soyke of Bradford and Derek W. (Deborah) Soyke of Derrick City; one  brother, Thomas Soyke of Summerville, S.C.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Soyke.

Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday (Sept. 29, 2025) at Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., 33 South Ave., where funeral services will immediately follow with Pastor Homer Williams of Sawyer Evangelical Church officiating.
