Busy Last Day at Rolfe Beagle Club’s Statewide Coyote and Crow Hunt
JOHNSONBURG – The last day of Rolfe Beagle Club’s 10-day, Statewide Coyote and Crow Hunt turned out to be extremely busy as predator hunters brought ten coyotes in the last half-hour of weigh-in time.
Paul Costanzo and Denelle brought in two coyotes to start the evening off. Paul harvested a 32.6# male off SR 948 in northern Elk County near 10:00 p.m. and then he moved up to Rasselas. At 2:00 a.m. Paul was able to harvest another male weighing in at 30.4#. These two coyotes were Paul’s 8th and 9th coyote of the hunt, setting a new club record for number of coyotes harvested in this ten-day hunt. Congratulations, Paul!
Also hunting hard were Brady Nussbaum and Reese Ehrensberger. They brought in six coyotes on the last day of the hunt they had harvested on Thursday thru Saturday morning on private lands in Elk County. Brady shoots a .223 rifle and Reese shoots a .22-.250 rifle, and they hunt together as a team. All total they brought in seven coyotes to the weigh station over the duration of the hunt.
Team Miller also hunted hard for this hunt and brought in a total of seven coyotes over the ten days of the hunt. They harvested the last two young-of-the-year coyotes off private lands in Elk County by scanning fields; no calling. The female weighed 11.6# and the male weighed 13.6#. Good hunting, Team Miller.
Hunters are reminded that Rolfe Beagle Club’s Predator Hunt or Trap will take place over two weekends in February.
