Team Miller and Costanzo Harvest Again at Rolfe Beagle Club’s Statewide Coyote and Crow Hunt
JOHNSONBURG – Ray and Jim Miller out of St. Marys weighed in a 27.8-lb female coyote that was harvested near 10 p.m. on private lands that were adjacent to State Game Lands. They did no calling and just scanned the fields instead because the coyotes seemed to avoid calls earlier in the week.
Ray and Jim shoot .22-.250 rifles and use thermal scopes. They do sometimes use a Fox Pro electronic call but haven’t lately because the coyotes seem wise to the call.
Paul Costanzo, a well-known predator hunter brought in his 5th coyote of the hunt, a 17.0# male. Paul harvested the ‘yote from a tree stand near 10:30 p.m. from private land up in Rasselas in northern Elk County after calling for over 75 minutes. It took a long time for the coyote to come to the call.
Paul shoots a .223 AR with a thermal scope and a Fox pro electronic call.
Hunters are reminded that Rolfe Beagle Club’s Predator Hunt or Trap will take place over two weekends in February.
