Forest stewardship webinars via extension
UNIVERSITY PARK — Forest landowners or anyone interested in forest stewardship can learn the latest information on vegetation management and stewardship practices by attending webinars hosted by Penn State Extension.
The “Forest Seminar” series will include the following webinars hosted on the second Thursday of each month from September through November:
- “Managing Unwanted Vegetation,” noon to 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 9.
- Participants will learn how to manage unwanted vegetation in forests, with a focus on planning, control methods and maintaining healthy, productive woodlands.
- “Profiles of Great Forest Stewards,” noon to 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 14.
- Experienced forest stewards will teach participants through video visits, Q&A, and peer discussions to enhance their woodland management and stewardship practices.
- “Fundamentals of Oak Management,” noon to 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 11.
- This webinar will cover the ecology of mid-Atlantic mixed-oak forests, including regeneration challenges, site quality factors and key traits of major oak species.
Penn State Extension offers these events at no charge, but registration is required to receive the link to access each webinar. Registration deadlines vary by event. A link to the recorded webinar will be emailed to registrants within 10 business days after the live event. Participants can access the recording for six months from the event date.
