ALCS, Oswayo Valley grads earn memorial scholarships
Nine Allegany-Limestone Central School and Oswayo Valley Central School graduates were recently awarded memorial scholarships from funds managed by the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation.
Oswayo Valley’s Chloe Metcalf, along with Haylee Voorhees and Maddax King, were awarded the Christine Conner Memorial Scholarship for $500.
Christine Conner was a 1984 graduate of Oswayo Valley Central School and school counselor at Allegany-Limestone Middle School. This scholarship carries on her support of education and children by supporting annual scholarships with preference for students furthering their education in criminal justice or the EMT field and for students pursuing a degree in nursing or the mental health field.
Metcalf plans to study nursing at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.
Addie Fisher and Tatymn Lindell received the Nicolas G. Pendl Memorial Scholarship for $2,000, while Stephanie Kopec and Voorhees were awarded $1,000.
Caleb Strade received the Dennis Jones and Wayne Johnston Memorial Dice Run Scholarship.
Avery McCoy received the first-ever Tommy Moran Memorial Scholarship for $1,000.
Brady Straub of ALCS received the Laurie Anzivine Memorial Scholarship for $500.
