YMCA seeks corporate champs

Lace up for fitness and fun as the Bradford YMCA Corporate Challenge hits Main Street on Sept. 18. The event offers participants the option of a 5K run or a two-mile walk, both starting and ending downtown. Following the main event, the celebration will continue during a newly added afterparty with live music, food and drinks.

The walk/run begins at Veterans Square, with registration beginning at 4:30 p.m.

The cost of $25 per person includes entrance to the afterparty, to be held at The Corner Bar. There will be live music by Counterfeit along with a sub from The Grocery Stretcher, fruit, granola bar, water and one adult beverage for participants who are of legal age.

The afterparty, which is new this year, is designed to make the event even more memorable.

Last year’s event drew more than 650 participants from local businesses, and organizers hope to top that number this year. Awards will be presented in multiple categories, including fastest teams and individuals, top male and female 5K runners, top male and female 2 mile walkers, top corporate team with the most participants and top community team with the most participants. Teams are encouraged to create and wear their own team shirts to show off their spirit. Those with the best t-shirt design or theme will be honored with the Spirit and Swag award.

The registration deadline is Aug. 29. When registering, guests can choose to add an event T-shirt to their order for $10. Youth under 14 can participate in the walk for free, while runners 17 and younger can enter the 5K at a discounted $15 rate. Youth participants will also receive a free sub, water, a granola bar and fruit after the race.

Volunteers are still needed to assist with setup, teardown and event support.
