Open Arms sets baptism service, picnic

Open Arms Community Church will hold its annual Baptism Service and Picnic at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Marilla Landing Pavilion at Marilla Reservoir, 1131 W. Washington St.

Lead Pastor Zoe Hatcher said, “We are so excited to be hosting our Annual Baptism Service at a new location this year: the new Marilla Landing Pavilion. Baptism is not only a sacrament, but a public declaration of our faith in Him. This is a special day where we confess our intention to turn from our old life and to walk forward with God into the new life He has provided for us.”

Open Arms Community Church recently moved into its new facility at 71 Congress St. in downtown Bradford, a transition that representatives said has allowed the congregation to be more present and engaged in the heart of the community.

Hatcher said, “We have loved being downtown and doing ministry here among our new neighbors. We are excited to celebrate many of them having come to faith in Christ and now making the decision to get baptized!”

The service will feature live outdoor worship, baptisms and a message from the Word. Children’s ministry volunteers will lead a guided hike during the message. Following the service, the community picnic will take place. Main dishes and drinks will be provided; guests are encouraged to bring a dish to pass and a lawn chair.

Everyone who registers in advance for baptism receives a complimentary baptism T‑shirt to commemorate the milestone.

“We would like to invite our whole community to come and celebrate with us these declarations of faith together,” Hatcher said. “We hope to see you there.”
