The conservation districts of Cameron, Elk, McKean, Potter and Tioga counties, in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) and Generations Forestry, will sponsor a day-long workshop on erosion and sedimentation control for foresters, loggers, logging contractors and private landowners.

The workshop will be held 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 9 at the Wilcox Community Building, 320 Faries St.

The workshop will cover fundamentals for erosion control, permitting and stream considerations; planning before the harvest using the SFI Timber Harvest Checklist to plan a sustainable harvest; best management practices (BMPs) and common site problems.

Professional credits are available for continuing education (PA Sustainable Forestry Initiative for an additional $20 fee). The cost is $15 per person, which includes materials, refreshments and lunch. Pre-register for the course no later than Oct. 2 at sfiofpa.org/register.
