DuBois tennis defeats St. Marys, 3-2
DUBOIS – DuBois swept the singles matches to claim a 3-2 win over St. Marys Thursday in girls’ tennis action.
St. Marys claimed wins in both doubles matches.
“This was our first loss of the season, and it was to a good DuBois team. Coach Reed’s team was steadier from the baseline in the singles matches. Sara’s match at one singles took almost two hours to complete. There were great rallies and numerous multiple duce games,” said St. Marys coach Tim Henry. “At two singles Isabella was figuring things out in the second set. Izzy’s opponent was just more consistent. The match was decided before the doubles were done, but despite that our girls kept battling.
“At one doubles Sam and Pilar had good first serve percentages for the whole match to earn their win. At second doubles that match also took over two hours to complete thanks to the two tiebreakers. Dannilyn and Zoe found the answer in the second set and despite being down 4-8 at one point kept their cool and earned the 10-8 win. In just the second week of the season we- like all teams just need some more time on court. Congratulations to DuBois.”
