Intandem welcomes Dr. Melissa Stokes as staff psychiatrist
OLEAN, N.Y. — Dr. Melissa Stokes, a psychiatrist who practiced in the Mansfield, Pa., area, has joined Intandem in Cattaraugus County as a staff psychiatrist.
Stokes joins Intandem following the retirement of longtime psychiatrist Dr. Jon Grigg, who served the organization for 35 years — and was instrumental in recruiting Stokes to fill the position.
Intandem is a nonprofit human services agency serving individuals with developmental disabilities and behavioral health needs across Western New York.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Stokes to our team,” said Mari L. Howard, president and chief executive officer at Intandem. “Her clinical expertise, thoughtful approach, and dedication to improving the lives of individuals through behavioral health care make her an ideal fit for our organization. We are excited about the impact she will have on our community.”
Stokes studied medicine at the University of Virginia School of Medicine and, in Mansfield, provided psychiatric care across a wide range of populations. Howard said Stokes’ evidence-based approach, paired with a compassionate and person-centered philosophy, aligns closely with Intandem’s mission of supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, behavioral health needs and other life challenges.
“I’m honored to join an organization like Intandem that values integrated, person-centered care and supports the whole individual,” Stokes said. “I look forward to working with the team to continue building on the strong foundation of behavioral health services.”
Stokes will support individuals across Intandem’s Article 16 Clinic service area in Cattaraugus County, working alongside multidisciplinary teams to provide psychiatric care.
