Oakley Hedlund, 2, of Bradford died this week — allegedly at the hands of his father, Tyler Prescott — at a home on Sherman Street.

Oakley’s loved ones have organized a GoFundMe to cover the boy’s funeral expenses.
“Oakley was only 2 years of age when he was tragically taken from us,” organizer Dylan Blackman, Oakley’s uncle, wrote on the page. “I am looking to raise at least $8,000 so the family can afford to put him to rest with dignity and respect.”
As of early Friday afternoon, the page had raised $2,605 on 50 donations.
Prescott, two months out of state prison for a near-fatal assault on an 18-month-old in 2021, is in McKean County Jail on $1 million bail for allegations relating to Oakley’s death.
He is charged with three counts of aggravated assault and one count of endangering the welfare of a child, all felonies.
McKean County District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer said late Thursday at Prescott’s arraignment before District Judge Richard Luther that she expects to increase the charges to homicide and requested a high bail figure.
A person who lived at the Sherman Street residence where Oakley was found, came home early Thursday and discovered the boy on a mattress beside his sleeping father — blue and cold to the touch, with significant injuries.
Bradford City Fire Department paramedics responded and transported Oakley to Bradford Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
“Oakley deserved to live a long and fulfilling life,” Blackman wrote. “The least we can do now is give him a (loving) burial.”
Cortney Hedlund, Oakley’s aunt, said, “Oakley’s life was more than a tragedy. He was just a little boy with the brightest smile who laughed at everything and loved everyone.”
Hedlund wrote on a public Facebook post, “Oakley, I never got to finish your quilt, and your bicycle’s still in my backyard where you left it. I don’t know how this is real. I don’t know what to do with this. I’ll never forget you.”
