Programs on reptiles, lumber region set at Sizerville
EMPORIUM — Environmental education programs are set for this weekend at Sizerville State Park.
At 3 p.m. Saturday will be “Rad Reptiles,” a program on all things related to snakes, lizards, skinks, and turtles. A short talk will provide a general overview on each vertebrate group, and stay after to go on a hunt for these critters with the educator. Meet at the Environmental Learning Center.
At 7 p.m. Saturday, join the Lumber Heritage Region’s guest speaker, education and outreach specialist Rowan Crisp, as she explores Pennsylvania’s rich lumbering past. View her collection of “Wood on Glass” images showcasing the heyday of the logging era. Crisp will also show us the “Pennsylvania Desert” of the 1920s, and discuss the significance of the Civilian Conservation Corps in shaping the forests and parks we cherish today — feel free to bring snacks and a blanket. Meet at the Campground Amphitheater.
