West Eldred Road to close for bridge replacement
CLEARFIELD — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced work to replace a West Eldred Road (Route 1011) bridge spanning Fowler Brook 3 miles north of Coryville in Eldred Township is set to begin Thursday.
The bridge will close Thursday, and traffic will follow a detour using routes 346 and 446 around the work zone. PennDOT anticipates the detour will be in place until mid-September, but all schedules are weather-dependent.
Work on this project includes the replacement of the structure, approach paving and guard rail installation. The $403,000 project is a joint effort between PennDOT McKean County maintenance forces and Bob Cummins Construction LLC of Bradford. PennDOT crews will complete the site excavation and backfill. The contractor will replace the structure, complete the approach paving, install the guard rail, and complete other miscellaneous construction.
Replacing this structure will improve its overall condition rating, PennDOT officials said.
