Centre County man charged for threatening Trump on TikTok
STATE COLLEGE (TNS) — A 22-year-old Centre County man is facing as many as five years of imprisonment, in addition to other penalties, after being accused of threatening President Donald Trump over several posts on his TikTok social media account.
Jacob Buckley, of Port Matilda, is alleged to have made three posts on Jan. 16 — prior to Trump’s inauguration — that said the following: “I hate MAGA republicans bro on god I’ll kill all of them”; “I’m going to kill Trump”; and, “Bro we going into a literal oligarchy in 4 days and im going to kill Trump.”
Trump was sworn in as the 47th president on Jan. 20.
The allegations could carry serious penalties. According to a news release issued by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, the maximum penalty upon conviction is five years’ imprisonment, a term of supervised release following imprisonment, a fine and the imposition of a special assessment.
The case was investigated by the Secret Service, and Assistant U.S. Attorney K. Wesley Mishoe is prosecuting it.
A cursory search on TikTok shows the Jacob_buckley account mentioned in the news release is set to private. The account has 72 followers. It wasn’t clear if the original account might’ve been deleted or if this remained the account that was investigated.
