BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT: More than hair at Bella Capelli

    By SAVANNAH BARR

At Bella Capelli Salon and Boutique, the talented stylists know that a trip to the salon is about much more than great hair – it’s about connection, confidence and community.

“We hope we make people feel comfortable,” said owner Jody Magnetti. “We hope they leave here feeling confident and happy with their new look.”

Located at 507 E. Main St. in Bradford, Bella Capelli is open from 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday. But don’t expect to get a seat right away. Each stylist sets their own schedule, but Magnetti says they are typically booked two months out. She encourages clients to plan ahead.

“I tell people when they leave one appointment to book their next one,” said Magnetti.

Magnetti, a Bradford native, always had an eye for fashion and beauty. After high school, she found herself choosing between two career paths. Ultimately, she followed her passion, despite some discouragement from her high school guidance counselor.

“It was kind of looked down upon to go work in hair, and he said my grades were too good to go be a stylist,” said Magnetti. “Little did he realize this path would bring me so much success and happiness.”

When she opened Bella Capelli in 2007, Magnetti wanted the name to reflect her family’s Italian roots.

“My husband and I are both of Italian descent, so I wanted to honor that,” said Magnetti.

“Bella capelli” is Italian for “beautiful hair,” and that is exactly what her team provides every day. Today, Bella Capelli is home to five stylists, including Magnetti. Each offers their own unique set of skills. The salon is especially known for customized, dimensional color in addition to modern and classic cuts.

The team at Bella Capelli includes five stylists.

“We have stylists of every age range, so clients can find their perfect fit,” said Magnetti. “We all work with each other and learn from each other, especially when it comes to something like color corrections.”

The team is rounded out by two dedicated receptionists who help ensure everything runs smoothly.

“I am just so thankful for everyone on our team,” said Magnetti. “We pride ourselves on working well together and creating a warm, welcoming environment for our clientele.”

Over the last 18 years, Magnetti says many of her clients have come to feel more like family.

“We are now serving the second generation,” said Magnetti. “It is a privilege to have done someone’s wedding and then do hair for their daughter’s wedding years later.”

The salon has grown since its early days, with the addition of a facial treatment room and a boutique gift shop offering a range of trendy finds.

“We aim to keep up with the current trends so we can keep people looking and feeling their best,” she said.

For Magnetti, it is important to offer her clients the highest-quality products possible. In the salon, they use Goldwell Hair Color, Olaplex and Amika product lines.

“For our facial line, we use Farmhouse Fresh products that are almost 100 percent natural and organic,” said Magnetti. “These products come from a farm in Texas, and all purchases help to support the animal rescue mission they have there.”

Continuing education is a key part of staying current in the beauty industry.

“We used to do a lot of hair shows, but now we often take classes online,” said Magnetti. “There is always something new to learn in this business.”

In addition to hair services, the salon offers relaxing facials, including exfoliation, hydration and facial massages. The facials are customized for each client’s skin concerns.

“They are incredibly relaxing and therapeutic,” said Magnetti. “You leave feeling like a million bucks.”

She recommends that clients schedule facials every four to six weeks, roughly the same rhythm as hair color maintenance.

Looking ahead, Magnetti hopes to continue to grow her business and serve the community that she loves.

“This is a place where people truly support one another,” said Magnetti. “I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else.”
