PHEAA virtual event for completing State Grant Form
HARRISBURG — The Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) will host a webinar to guide college students and their families in filing the Pennsylvania State Grant Form (SGF).
To determine eligibility for a PA State Grant, applicants must complete the 2025-26 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®), which can be accessed online at pheaa.org/FAFSA or StudentAid.gov. First-time applicants must complete the SGF. Most renewal students shouldn’t have to complete the SGF, but some may. PHEAA will let you know if you are required to complete the SGF or an additional form.
“The PA State Grant Program was established by an act of Pennsylvania legislature in 1963,” said Sen. Wayne D. Fontana, chairman of the PHEAA Board of Directors. “PHEAA has been the proud administrator of the program since its inception. We’re even prouder to be able to offer events, such as this webinar, to assist students and their families in filing for a PA State Grant to help in affording their dream of higher education.”
“Recipients do not repay a PA State Grant,” explained James Steeley, PHEAA president and CEO. “It is need-based, gift aid. It is important that students exhaust every opportunity for gift aid, including grants, before turning to borrowing student loans. If a student is encountering any questions or issues in completing and filing the SGF, then I strongly encourage them to attend this free webinar.”
The presentation will be made from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. PHEAA’s Higher Education Access Partners will present an overview of the 2025-26 PA State Grant process and provide step-by-step guidance to participants as they complete and file the SGF.
