Crash shuts down Route 219 for 5 hours
Lafayette Township Volunteer Fire Department, along with Mount Jewett and Kane ambulances, were dispatched at 8:54 a.m. Thursday to a reported tractor-trailer accident south of Route 219’s intersection with Westline Road. First arriving emergency personnel found a single tractor-trailer jack-knifed in the roadway blocking all three lanes. No injuries were reported. There was also a large fuel spill. Lewis Run, Mount Jewett and Hamlin Township volunteer fire departments provided traffic control at Tack’s Inn and Lantz Corners. Route 219 was closed in both directions for approximately five hours while the tractor-trailer was removed and the fuel spill was cleaned up. The road was reopened at 1:42 p.m. McKean County Department of Emergency Services, Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and PennDOT assisted at the scene. Pennsylvania State Police investigated.
