Brenda Shatara
Brenda Lee Shatara, 75, of Bradford passed away June 16, 2025.
Born Jan. 4, 1950, in Bradford, she was the daughter of the late Norman Glady and Marcia Raffill Glady. Brenda was the beloved middle child of five siblings, all of whom survive her.
Early in her life, she worked as a secretary at the Methodist Church and McCourt Label/Bradford Printing.
On March 31, 1973, she married John “Jack” Shatara. They shared 47 years of marriage before Jack’s passing in December 2020. Together they raised one daughter, Andrea Shatara of Boston, Mass., who survives her.
Brenda will be remembered most for her selflessness, her gentle spirit and her unwavering kindness. She had a quiet strength and a heart that was always open to others. A lifelong animal lover, Brenda had a special place in her heart for dogs and found deep comfort in their companionship.
Brenda also had a great love of music, whether it was classic oldies, today’s pop hits or songs that reminded her of family and love. Music was always a source of joy, comfort and connection throughout her life.
To know Brenda was to feel truly cared for. She gave without expecting anything in return, often putting others’ needs before her own. Her presence was warm and deeply nurturing.
Brenda’s memory lives on in the countless lives she touched with her kindness, her patience and her grace.
A public memorial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday (Aug. 5, 2025) at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a local animal shelter or the National MS Society in Brenda’s honor.
