Laughter, illusions, local musicians
Kinzua Rocks the Wake is leveling up this Labor Day weekend, adding comedy, magic and beachside tunes to its already jaw-dropping lineup of water stunts, jet ski acrobatics and live concerts. The new event, which will celebrate the last weekend of summer, is slated for Aug. 30 to Sept. 1 at Kinzua Beach on the Allegheny Reservoir.
The family friendly festival will also feature championship water skiing, freestyle flyboarding, tribute concerts, craft beer and food trucks. And now, they have officially named a full lineup of magic and musical acts who will perform on the Kinzua Beach stage, with the Allegheny Reservoir as a stunning natural backdrop.
Each day begins at noon with a live comedy magic show, which is guaranteed to astonish and entertain in equal measure, organizers said. Mr. Kazam will perform Aug. 30. He is a two-time Magician of the Year and has appeared on “Penn & Teller: Fool Us.” He will bring floating objects, a trained snake and even a lie detector to the stage.
Sky Wands will take over the noon slot Aug. 31, bringing music, madness and mayhem. Sky Wands, who has been described as a modern-day court jester, shares his unique sense of humor through magic, audience participation, impressions and fast-paced improvisation.
Brenden Trojan will perform Sept. 1. His hilarious, high energy show blends magic, mind-reading and audience participation for an unforgettable experience the whole family will love. From his captivating sleight-of-hand to his mind bending mentalism, this show is sure to create non-stop laughter and excitement.
Regional singer-songwriters and acoustic duos will perform beachside between water shows throughout the weekend. Their musical stylings will lend a laid-back groove to contrast the high-octane action bought by the Chippewa Lake Water Ski Team and Ski Extreme’s Flyboard and Freestyle Jetski Team.
“We just didn’t want there to ever be a time when there was quiet,” said Casey Ferry, Warren County Visitors Bureau director. “The idea is, as soon as something ends we want these musicians to jump on stage.”
On Aug. 30, singer-songwriter Dan Roche of Port Allegany will perform at 1:40 p.m., 2:20 p.m. and 3:40 p.m. on the beach stage. He will be followed by up-and-coming Western New York singer-songwriter Miranda Wilcox, who will take the beach stage for performances at 4:20 p.m., 5:40 p.m. and 6:20 p.m. Her final performance will be on the main stage, opening for the Ultimate Garth Brooks Tribute concert at 8:30 p.m. Wilcox will perform her take on everything from rock and country to R&B music.
On Aug. 31, acoustic ukulelist Kallie Williams of Warren will perform on the beach stage for performances at 1:20 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3:40 p.m. She will play an eclectic set list featuring hits from the ’90s, 2000s and today.
The duo Interstate Daydream will also perform Aug. 31, on the beach stage at 4:20 p.m., 5:40 p.m. and 6:20 p.m. They will then take the main stage at 7:40 p.m. to open for The Classic Rock Experience, who will perform at 8:30 p.m.
On Sept. 1, Doug Rigby will perform on the beach stage at 1:40 p.m. and 3:40 p.m. He will delight the crowd with his take on classic rock and country tunes.
