Driver crashes into Harrisburg house, jams in her car till police arrive
(TNS) — A Harrisburg homeowner was in the lower level of her Harrisburg house Tuesday when she heard a loud noise outside.
She raced to her front door, and found a car wedged in between her vehicle and her home. The crash took out several porch posts.
Concerned about the occupants, the homeowner knocked on the car windows. But the driver kept dancing to music, seemingly oblivious to the destruction, until the homeowner called 911.
The crash in the first block of Taylor Boulevard near Reservoir Park didn’t injure anyone. But the homeowner said there were four residents just inside the home, including a baby. The homeowner didn’t want her name published.
After the crash, police took the driver to the hospital for a blood test to check for the influence of alcohol or drugs, according to the homeowner.
The car had a woman in the passenger seat, the homeowner said.
The homeowner said the driver came from Reservoir Park, and drove off the road into a closed, private road that had no outlet. A gate between the private road and Taylor Boulevard was closed and locked, which is typical. The private road is used by snowplows, the homeowner said.
To avoid the gate, the driver steered into the homeowner’s lawn then hit a tree and slammed into the side of the home, taking out several posts holding up the roof and hitting the homeowner’ vehicle. The crash also killed some recently-installed landscaping and broke several porch chairs.
The homeowner said they just bought the home at the end of May.
