‘Round the Square: Possibilities for creativity
CONTEST: We found a photo contest that we think local readers might like. It’s the Through The Seasons photo contest for the Pennsylvania Parks and Forest Foundation.
There are six categories — Beyond the Trail, Comradery on the Trail, Peaceful Easy Feeling, Tales from the Trail, Texture of the Trail, and Young Photographers (ages 12 to 17). All photos must be taken in a Pennsylvania state park or state forest.
Those sound like some great possibilities for creativity!
Submissions must be made by noon on Sept. 30, with the voting period to be publicly announced after that. Votes will be taken on the agency’s Facebook page by “likes” per photo.
Each submission must be in .jpg form and be identified with your name, the category entered, and the state park/forest in which the photograph was taken.
Photos must be assigned to a category by the contestant and can only be entered into one
category. A maximum of 3 photos per entrant will be accepted in any one category.
Also, if a person is visible in the picture, their name and contact information must be included.
Email your entries to the Foundation at photocontest@paparksandforests.org.
Photos must be submitted by the photographer, and submitted photos should be original and previously unpublished in a commercial endeavor.
There will be prizes for the winners. While the contest has traditionally offered state park gift cards, the program is on hiatus. The foundation may substitute another gift card if the DCNR cards are unavailable.
There will be a Judges’ Choice, People’s Choice and second place in each category.
Winning photos may be used on the PPFF website and Facebook page. Complete rules are on the https://paparksandforests.org/ website.
