Assault, strangulation charges send Bradford man to jail
Allegations of strangulation and assault have landed a Bradford man in McKean County Jail.
Justin A. Griffin, 36, of Belleview Avenue, is charged with second-degree felony strangulation, second-degree misdemeanor simple assault and a summary offense of harassment.
According to the criminal complaint, on July 28, police were called to a domestic disturbance at Griffin’s residence. While en route to the address, police saw Griffin walking on Jackson Avenue with a female behind him, and the two were in a heated argument. Police determined the female was the one who called police. She said Griffin had assaulted and choked her, displaying bruises and severe bite marks on her upper body, neck, shoulders, back and torso.
She said the assault had been ongoing for nearly a week and expressed fear for her safety as well as the safety of the children, the complaint said. She told police there is a history of abuse in New York state as well.
Griffin was arraigned Tuesday before District Judge Rich Luther and remanded to jail in lieu of $15,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Aug. 7.
Alleged theft of buy money sends Bradford man to jail
A Bradford man was charged with theft by the McKean County Drug Task Force for allegedly setting up a drug deal only to steal the money and not return with drugs.
Donald Riley, 26, of 33 Miller St., is charged with criminal use of a communication facility, a third-degree felony; and theft, a second-degree misdemeanor.
On Feb. 3, Riley used Facebook Messenger to set up a drug sale to a confidential informant of the task force in exchange for $100. The two met, the informant handed over the pre-recorded funds and Riley said he had to leave to get the narcotics. However, he didn’t come back, according to the criminal complaint.
Riley was arraigned Monday night before on-call District Judge Bill Todd and remanded to McKean County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail. He is scheduled for Central Court on Aug. 7.
Salamanca, N.Y., woman jailed for alleged crack sale
A Salamanca, N.Y., woman is in McKean County Jail for allegedly selling drugs in the City of Bradford.
Tonya Riley, 52, of 249 Central Ave., is charged with possession with intent to deliver crack cocaine, a felony; possession of crack, a misdemeanor; and criminal use of a communication facility, a third-degree felony.
On Jan. 23, Riley used Facebook Messenger to arrange a sale of crack cocaine to a confidential informant of the Drug Task Force, and sold it in a parking lot in the City of Bradford.
She was arraigned Monday night before on-call District Judge Bill Todd and remanded to jail in lieu of $10,000 bail. She is scheduled for Central Court on Aug. 7.
