Jack Burton
PUNXSUTAWNEY — Jack Richard Burton, 79, of Punxsutawney passed away Saturday (July 26, 2025) in his home, surrounded by his family who loved him dearly.
He was born July 11, 1946, the son of the late Francis Mae Holmes and Richard Burton.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Colleen McAndrew Burton, who adored him. He is also survived by his daughter, Melanie Burton Serian; his grandchildren, Jessica (Nick LaBelle) Burton and Johnny and Julia Serian; his sisters, Sue (Jim) Crowley and Juanita Huntoon; brothers-in-law, Colin (Cindy) McAndrew and Brian (Lori) McAndrew; sister-in-law, Kathy ( Lanny) Mangus; and several nieces and nephews.
Jack was raised in Bradford until he accepted a position as a welder at Penelec and moved to Punxsutawney, where he worked for 30 years before retiring.
He was an avid outdoorsman, especially enjoying hunting, fishing and birdwatching. He also cherished trips to the casino with his family, where he was always lucky. Jack loved his grandchildren very much, always watching “Jeopardy!” every night with Jessica. He loved to cook delicious meals, which led to Johnny becoming a successful chef. Jack was exceptionally grateful that Julia is in nursing school and assisted him in his final days.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Tom (Nancy) and George (Bev) McCune; nephews Tommy McCune, Tim McCormick and Steve Bartlebaugh; niece, Ashley McAndrew; sister-in-law, Sandy Spehar; and brothers-in-law, Terry and Kevin (Bonnie) McAndrew.
