McCormick makes first Senate floor address
WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Sen. Dave McCormick, R-Pa., delivered his maiden speech on the U.S. Senate floor describing his plans to champion bold action, embrace partnerships and deliver for the people of Pennsylvania.
Aiming to help renew America’s promise and deliver much-needed change for Pennsylvania and our nation, McCormick said, he vowed to “serve my constituents not only inside this chamber, through legislation, hearings and votes, but also outside this chamber by using my platform, my voice and my leadership to bring about meaningful change.”
A tradition dating back to the earliest days of the Senate, newly elected Senators often wait a respectable amount of time before delivering their first address on the Senate floor. McCormick’s speech comes after last week’s inaugural Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit, where more than $90 billion worth of investment in Pennsylvania data centers, energy and power infrastructure, and workforce and AI training projects was announced.
During his nearly 15-minute address, McCormick said, “The Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit … exemplifies the key ingredients we need at this unique moment … bold, innovative leadership across the political spectrum … a willingness to discard conventional wisdom to improve the lives of our fellow countrymen … embracing partnerships between our nation’s public institutions and the private sector … [and] urgency, moving at the speed necessary to overcome the obstacles facing working families each and every day.”
