Lakeview in Smethport being auctioned off in Sept.; part of six-facility package from owner bankruptcy
Lakeview Senior Care in Smethport is on the auction block for Sept. 3 in Pittsburgh, along with five other nursing homes owned by now bankrupt Bonamour Health Group.
The nursing homes have been operated day to day by Everest Management Solutions LLC, appointed by receiver Michael Flanagan last year. One facility, Jefferson Hills Healthcare, closed and is being sold for future development. The others remain open: Lakeview — a 34-bed licensed nursing facility and related 28-bed licensed personal care home known respectively as Lakeview Healthcare and Rehab and Lakeview Senior Care; Beaver Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Beaver County, Ridgeview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Clearfield County, Mulberry Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Jefferson County, and Scottdale Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Westmoreland County.
A message sent to Lakeview administrator Patricia Barber was not immediately returned Friday.
According to court records, Bonamour defaulted on a $30.5 million loan it secured in 2022.
As part of the bankruptcy and auction process, the receiver has entered into a preferred bidder contract with affiliates of 980 Investments and Heart Healthcare Management LLC. That includes a purchase price of $37,418,377.48 for the facilities and their assets.
Competing bids for the entire package must start with a price of at least $37,669,000 and should be received at least six business days before the public auction, reads a public notice of the sale.
Other bids will be taken at the auction.
Under Bonamour, employees at Lakeview had gone unpaid when the parent company missed payroll, and Bonamour had collected employee contributions for health insurance but did not turn the money over to UPMC Health Plan, leaving employees without insurance coverage — without their knowledge, according to court records.
