Kane man jailed for alleged child porn
KANE — A Kane man is in McKean County Jail for allegedly seeking nude images over text message with someone he thought was a 15-year-old girl.
Jason Gorrie, 43, of 8 Chestnut St., is charged with solicitation sexual abuse of children (commonly referred to as child pornography), attempted sexual abuse of children and criminal use of a communication facility, all third-degree felonies.
On June 30, Assistant Police Chief Derrick Snyder of Kane Borough Police Department was requested to meet some people at 8 Chestnut St. However, he was on a call and was unable to respond. He called them, and the person explained they were with 814PredHunters and had been communicating via text message with Gorrie since April. They said a decoy with their group was presenting themselves as a 15-year-old girl, and was communicating with Gorrie, according to the criminal complaint.
The group sent all of the information they had collected to Snyder, including 349 pages of text messages. The complaint alleged that Snyder observed several instances in the records where the decoy related to Gorrie that she was a 15-year-old female and several instances where Gorrie was still requesting nude images from the decoy, explained District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer.
The criminal complaint stated that Gorrie first reached out to the decoy on Facebook. When taken into custody, Gorrie claimed he knew she was older than 18.
He was arraigned Thursday by District Judge David Engman, who set bail at $100,000. He was remanded to McKean County Jail. He is scheduled for Central Court on Thursday.
