ESCAPE to the sounds of Journey
E5C4P3 (ESCAPE) – The Journey Tribute will take the stage at Bromeley Family Theater at 7 p.m. Aug. 7 for the third and final Bradford Creative and Performing Arts Center (BCPAC) tribute show of the summer.
Formed in June 1993, E5C4P3 traveled nationwide and paid tribute to one of rock history’s most beloved bands performing for tens of thousands of fans through its hiatus in 1999.
“E5C4P3 is still known today as the original and best Journey tribute band to ever exist,” BCPAC officials said in a press release.
The group came back together in 2008 and regularly “recreates the magic of a Journey concert like no one else can,” officials said.
“The band covers the music with a note-for-note accuracy that is second to none and performs each show with the high-energy excitement of a real Journey concert as well as visually recreating the essence of early ’80s Journey,” BCPAC’s press release reads.
E5C4P3 focuses on Journey’s Steve Perry era, covering hits from “Lights” and “Wheel In The Sky” to “Separate Ways” and “Be Good To Yourself” including occasional surprises for all die-hard Journey fans.
Lead vocalist Jason Kelty’s childhood was all about music. He ended up being a percussionist all through school and never dreamed of being a singer, especially not one of Perry’s caliber. His main rock influences growing up were The Beatles, Billy Joel, Journey, Van Halen and Rush.
After going to college for orchestral music for a year, he discovered his above average singing talent while singing karaoke. E5C4P3 was formed when “tribute bands weren’t exactly “cool” and life on the road took its toll. When Kelty walked away from E5C4P3 in 1999, he never expected to return. Myriad events took place to reform E5C4P3 and bring Kelty out of retirement in 2008, when he “realized that E5C4P3 was where he was supposed to be.”
Other band members include George McGrew on guitar, Erney Chaney on keys, Paul Soos on bass and Billy Jones on drums.
“For all the countless fans who have never stopped believing, they’re back and we welcome you ‘into the presence of Journey’ with E5C4P3 – The Journey Tribute,” BCPAC officials said.
