Early August programs set at Sinnemahoning State Park
AUSTIN — Sinnemahoning State Park has environmental education programs set for the first weekend in August.
From 1 to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 2 will be Timber Rattlesnakes: The Secret Behind the Rattle. Discover the life of one of Pennsylvania’s most intriguing and, at times, frightening reptiles: the timber rattlesnake. Stacy Foster, a certified timber rattlesnake monitor, will share her passion for the conservation of this species and provide an up-close look at a live wild specimen.
Meet at the Wildlife Center classroom.
From 4 to 5:30 p.m. Aug 2 will be Creatures of the Creek. Come explore First Fork Sinnemahoning Creek with park educators and discover what lives beneath the surface and what those creatures can tell us about water quality in the park. Meet at the 40 Maples Day Use Area.
Beginning at 9 a.m. Aug. 3 will be pontoon tours of the Stevenson Reservoir. Join park staff for a relaxing and informative tour around the lake, as we cruise the shoreline of the George B. Stevenson Reservoir in search of wildlife. Group size is limited. To reserve a seat, pre-register. Registration is not required but is strongly recommended. Tours will also be at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
