Kenneth Eugene “Coon” Hartzel
With a heavy heart I announce the passing of my dad, Kenneth Eugene “Coon” Hartzel, in my home. As I laid next to him, I told him it was okay to go on to heaven. Three breaths and he went peacefully to rejoice with the Lord in heaven, with his wife, Donna Jean McKinney Hartzel.
Kenneth was also predeceased by his parents, Elmer Eugene and Ruth Naomi Hall Hartzel.
He is survived by his daughter, Amy “Sam” (Charles “CoonsBoy” Sechrist) Synnamyn; and his sister, Melanie Johnson.
He served in the U.S. military from 1966 to 1986, in the Vietnam War Era, earning National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and five Knots. He then worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Harmony. He also enjoyed his part-time work with Advance Auto Parts and the Mission Barn, building handicap ramps. He enjoyed a multitude of activities, riding motorcycles with American Legion Riders and A.B.A.T.E of Pennsylvania, camping, fishing, hunting, Pittsburgh Pirates baseball, trips with his church, western movies and sharing the words of God with others.
