PA Squad starts Practice at Full Strength for Big 30
The PA team for the Big 30 All-Star Charities Classic kicked off practices today on a positive note.
Everybody we expected to be there was there,” PA Head Coach Troy Cook reported. “There were no injuries as far as I know, and no one spoke to the trainer afterward so we got out of today in pretty good shape.”
Day one consisted of physicals and figuring out the particulars.
“Today we went through and tried to find out which positions each guy would fit best at,” Cook said. “We got recommendations from their coaches, but the scheme will be a bit different than what they have run before. We also did some drillwork and some footwork. We were seeing how they would work best and fit together best in the system.
“A few guys stood out, but there’s more to do. We will follow a similar path tomorrow and in the second half get guys set in their positions and go over more scheme stuff.”
Following tomorrow’s plan, the PA squad has pictures at the beginning of practice Wednesday.
“After that they will have pads on and get more contact in practice, get that stuff out of the way. We want to make sure everybody is back and used to hitting,” Cook said.
The outlook is promising as PA looks for a win after NY took home the victory in 2024.
“We have a good group. They are a pretty loose group to start with; that’s good. Hopefully they can keep that,” Cook said. “Everyone seemed to work together pretty well. We are off to a good start; hopefully we can keep the momentum going.”
