Grand entrance at Powwow
A scene from the Grand Entry during this past weekend’s Marvin “Joe” Curry Veterans Powwow on the Seneca Nation’s Allegany Territory. A vibrant display of Indigenous culture featuring traditional regalia, music, and dance, the Grand Entry is a ceremonial procession that marks the beginning of a powwow. It involves dancers, drum groups, veterans, elders and dignitaries entering the dance arena in a specific order.
