Car seat safety check set at CARE for Children
CARE for Children will host a car seat safety check from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Ashley Booth Griffin CARE for Children Center, located at 723 East Main Street in Bradford.
Certified child passenger safety technicians will be on-site to inspect car seats for proper installation and fit. A limited supply of free replacement seats will be available for families in need.
Appointments are encouraged but not required. To schedule a time, call CARE at (814) 362-4621 or email reception@careforchildren.info.
Parents and guardians are asked to bring their vehicle manual, car seat instructions, and for proper fitting, the child who uses the seat.
CARE staff will also be available to provide bicycle helmet fittings. Free helmets will be distributed to children who need them.
This event is presented in collaboration with the Safe Kids Pennsylvania–McKean County Partnership and the PA Traffic Injury Prevention Project, a program of the PA Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. CARE for Children serves as the lead agency for the partnership.
Proper car seat use significantly reduces the risk of injury or death in a crash. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA): Car seats reduce the risk of fatal injury by 71% for infants and 54% for toddlers (ages 1 to 4).
The Safe Kids McKean Partnership includes local organizations, businesses, and individuals working together to promote child safety and injury prevention through education, outreach, and advocacy. Programs are funded in part by the United Way of the Bradford Area Inc., the CARE for Children Endowment Fund, grants, private donations, and special events.
