Blaisdell Pro Am set for Monday & Tuesday
The Blaisdell Pro Am is set for Monday and Tuesday, bringing in 180 golfers on Monday and seeing 72 professionals hit the course on Tuesday.
On Monday 180 golfers (72 professionals and 108 amateurs) team up in a team Better ball format and play for over $35,000 in prizes. Meanwhile, Tuesday’s setup is by tee time, with 72 PGA club professionals from all over the country playing 18-hole stroke play for a total purse of $130,000. The winner takes home $50,000, one of the largest single day purses in the country.
“The event is put on by Mr. George Duke in honor of his grandfather, George G. Blaisdell,” Pennhills golf pro John Rook explained. “We at Pennhills want to issue a huge thank you from the club to Mr. Duke for all he does for this event. The idea is to both honor his grandfather’s legacy and also recognize what Mr. Duke does for us here, too.”
Blaisdell was an avid golfer, hitting a hole in one at Pennhills in October 1950 and also having the honor of his name listed on the North Penn winners plaque eight times. The plaque, which highlights winners from 1925 through 1944, still hangs at Pennhills.
The Pennhills course offers a challenge to the attending golfers via the green complexes in the Walter Travis design course.
