Bradford library summer programs celebrate creativity
The Bradford Area Public Library (BAPL) is buzzing with creativity this summer as adult patrons come together through a series of community-inspired programs that celebrate art, connection and collaboration.
Currently, local volunteers are busy crafting colorful granny-square blankets that will be raffled off this fall.
“Many people have generously shared their time, materials, and talents — donating over 200 granny squares so far,” shared Janelle Nolan, BAPL’s marketing and adult programming coordinator. “The next big step is stitching them together, and thanks to our Fiber Arts group, that part will be easy. They’re a truly talented and enthusiastic team.”
Meanwhile, other community members are diving into the art of Origami. Participants have folded hundreds of paper bell flowers, which will soon be transformed into a chandelier-style mobile. Once completed, this three-dimensional art installation will brighten the library’s interior with year-round color. As part of the library’s Color Our World summer programming for adults, BAPL will host its first-ever Tiny Art Exhibition at 6 p.m. Aug. 1. Throughout July, adult participants have been challenged to create original artwork on 4” x 4” canvases using a variety of media including acrylic paint, collage, decoupage, or sculpture.
“We still have a few blank canvases available for anyone 17 or older who would like to contribute to our show,” said Nolan. “All artistic skill levels are encouraged to take part — it’s all about creativity and having fun.”
Canvases can be picked up at the library’s Circulation Desk, and completed pieces should be submitted by July 31, including the artist’s name and the title of the work. The Tiny Art Exhibition will be held in BAPL’s Community Room and will include a wine bar for guests aged 21 and older. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to celebrate local talent and community spirit in a truly colorful way.
