Popular cracker sandwiches recalled nationwide
(TNS) — A popular cracker sandwich has been recalled.
This recall was enacted nationwide, and includes, of course, Pennsylvania.
A release published by the Federal Food & Drug Administration (FDA) on Monday announced that Mondelēz Global LLC — the food behemoth known for iconic brands such as Chips Ahoy!, Oreo, and Philadelphia Cream Cheese — has voluntarily pulled several of its Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches as well as Ritz Filled Cracker Sandwich Variety Pack cartons off shelves across the country.
This recall was prompted due to a labelling error: These cartons contain individually wrapped packs that might have been labeled as being of the cheese variety when they actually, in fact, contain peanut butter.
“People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts may risk serious or life-threatening allergic reactions by consuming this product,” the release explains.
“All outer cartons affected are labeled correctly and provide an allergen advisory statement indicating that the product ‘contains peanuts.’”
This recall applies to the 8-pack, 20-pack, and 40-pack Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwich cartons as well as the 20-pack Ritz Filled Cracker Sandwich Variety Pack carton. Please find more information about the affected products below:
- 11.4 oz Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches (8 count)
- 27.6 oz Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches (20 count)
- 55.2 oz Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches (40 count)
- 27.3 oz Ritz Filled Cracker Sandwiches 20-Count Variety Pack (10 Cheese, 10 Peanut Butter)
