BRMC, OGH host community classes, support groups
During July, Bradford Regional Medical Center (BRMC) and Olean (N.Y.) General Hospital (OGH), Kaleida Health facilities, will offer a variety of classes and support groups designed to provide health education, encouragement and community connection.
The Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support Workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to noon July 16 and 23. The first will be a diet-focused session. The program helps individuals take charge of their diabetes with expert guidance and support. The comprehensive program at OGH covers key aspects of diabetes self-care, including meal planning, medication management and lifestyle strategies. The workshop will take place in the OGH Education Center on the first floor. For more information or to register, call (716) 375-4127.
If you are scheduled for total joint replacement surgery, join our Total Joint Care Class. The class provides an overview of your procedure, the recovery process and the rehabilitation you will need. It is led by an experienced member of our outpatient rehabilitation team. This month, the class will be held from 11 a.m. to noon July 15, in the OGH Education Center on the first floor. To register, call (716) 375-7481.
For those who are to complete CPR training for licensure or work, American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) classes are being offered to the community by the clinical education department. July’s class will be held at OGH from 1 to 4 p.m. July 23, in classroom #3 and at BRMC from 9 a.m. to noon July 25 in the third-floor medical library. The cost to attend is $40. At BRMC, individuals can connect with others dealing with the loss of a friend or loved one by attending the Grief Relief Support Group. Grief can feel overwhelming, but you are not alone. The meeting is held in the Community Room inside the BRMC main lobby. This compassionate and supportive group provides a place where you can share your journey with others who understand. The group will meet from 4 to 5 p.m. July 29. For more information, call (814) 362-8288. No registration required. The meeting is free and open to the public.
