UPMC presents scholarships to future healthcare professionals
COUDERSPORT — Every year, UPMC awards the Dr. George and Doris Mosch Scholarship and the Dr. Moises and Eileen Cruz Scholarship, honoring academic excellence and a passion for healthcare. Each $1,000 award supports Coudersport Area High School seniors pursuing careers in health-related fields.
Mauly Gentzyel
Mauly Gentzyel has been awarded the Dr. George and Doris Mosch Scholarship and will attend Commonwealth University – Lock Haven to pursue a degree in health science with a pre-physician assistant concentration. This scholarship, established in 1998 by the former Cole Memorial Hospital, honors Dr. Mosch’s extraordinary 50 years of service to the Coudersport community. It is awarded annually to the graduating senior with the highest GPA who plans to study medicine or a health-related field at a Pennsylvania college or university.
Isabella Ostroski
Isabella Ostroski is this year’s Dr. Moises and Eileen Cruz Scholarship honoree. She plans to begin her studies in nursing at Commonwealth University – Bloomsburg. Created in 1999, this award commemorates the legacy of Dr. Cruz and his wife, Eileen, for their longstanding commitment to the hospital and local community. The scholarship is presented to a graduating senior entering a health-related field who demonstrates academic strength, admirable character and a genuine concern for others.
“We are proud to support and celebrate the next generation of health care professionals,” said Dr. Dan Glunk, interim president, UPMC Cole and UPMC Wellsboro. “These scholarships not only honor two families who left lasting legacies in our region but also highlight students who are preparing to make a difference in the future of care.”
