KERSEY — Fox Township residents were surprised to hear what sounded like an ice cream truck playing “Do Your Ears Hang Low?” in their neighborhoods Thursday evening, although it’s been several years since the musical treat truck has been seen in the area.

In reality, there were five members of the Fox Township Fire Department in engine number 32 driving through the neighborhoods distributing popsicles to young and old alike on an especially hot and muggy evening. The siren was occasionally used along with the music to announce their arrival.

John Green said, “Who knows? Maybe some kids will remember this and want to join (the fire department) someday.”

He credited Betsy Cooney Dutoit with coming up with the refreshing idea for part of their regular Thursday evening work session.
